Paul Corner, Senior Pastor

Paul joined the staff at First Covenant Church in January 2013, after serving in various capacities in churches in Tucson, Arizona; Glenview, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois; and Washington, Connecticut. He graduated from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois in 2005, and he was ordained to Word and Sacrament by the Evangelical Covenant Church in June of 2007. His deep desire is to be involved in work where all people are given the opportunity to flourish in body, mind and spirit as God intended. He is happily married to Marcia, and he is grateful for the shared task of parenting their children, Josiah and Anastasia. pcorner@firstcovenantseattle.org

 

Ellie VerGowe, Pastor of Outreach Ministries

As Pastor of Outreach Ministries, Ellie VerGowe builds relationships in the city, works with the church and neighborhood to serve the community justly and mercifully and she provides pastoral leadership in various ministries at First Covenant Church. Ellie's heart for ministry lies in welcoming all people to know God's love for them, to belong and to be people who work for the thriving of all. She is also passionate about finding the good news in scripture, helping the Church be the Church, hearing people's stories and she loves to sing! She earned degrees in vocal performance and music ministry at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA and her Master's of Divinity at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. evergowe@firstcovenantseattle.org

 

Meg Dowling, Director of Children and Youth Ministries

Meg Dowling is an East Coast native, long time Chicago resident, and now a Seattle transplant. Meg joined the staff at First Covenant Church in September 2018, having previously served as an Associate Pastor, Adjunct Professor at North Park University, and a hospital chaplain. Meg is passionate about supporting children and youth develop a lifelong faith, centered in God's deep and abiding love, and encouraged by the entire church community. Steve Elde, Pastor of Adult Ministries

Steve has been a pastor and staff minister in churches in Seattle, Pennysylania, New England and the Chicago area. He loves to teach and has a special interest in incarnational apologetics, finding those places where life and faith connect and God waits to be discovered in the midst of the ordinary experience of daily life. Steve is also an artist, a storyteller, a writer and a photographer. Cinda Madonna, Coordinator of Ministerial Operations

Cinda earned her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Washington, and, later, a Master’s of Divinity at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She is the mother of three grown sons, as well as a daughter and son through her marriage to Darryl Johnson. Cinda also keeps busy with seven granddaughters and three grandsons! First Covenant’s Ministry Coordinator, Cinda brings 29 years of experience in business operations and a plethora of ministerial experiences, working to serve God’s people. cmadonna@firstcovenantseattle.org

 

Tim Beggs, Director of Music Ministries

Tim joined the Seattle First Covenant staff in September 2013 and brings 10 years of experience to the position as well as a love for our variety of musical expressions and inter-generational approach to worship. tbeggs@firstcovenantseattle.org

 

Allan Waite, Property Superintendent

Allan joined the Seattle First Covenant staff in July of 2013 and functions as the facilities manager for our historic church building and our Summit building. Allan and his family have attended Seattle First Covenant Church for many years. awaite@firstcovenantseattle.org

 

Keelie Gassmann, Nursery Caregiver

Keelie is a student currently living in the Seattle area.  She hopes to pursue a career in cardiology, with a focus on medical anthropology.  An only child growing up, Keelie always dreamed of having younger siblings because she loves caring for infants and children.  Keelie enjoys caring for the littlest parishioners at First Covenant and getting to know their families as well.  

 

Peter Loyd, Caretaker

Peter joined the Seattle First Covenant staff in 2014 after a decade of living, studying, and serving in the Capitol Hill area. He is involved in local charity and arts organizations, and is especially concerned with the homeless and housing issues
